Our Mission

The center for reseach and opinion polls is an independent and nonpartisan network of researchers in social science  who reside in Togo, Africa, and outside the African continent. It has its headquarters in Lome, Togo and is currently led by Dr. Moussa Bimpo and a young dynamic team of researchers. CROP aims to contribute to the public policy discourse in Africa through the provision of quality information and  training to Africans.  To achieve this goal, CROP relies on cutting edge researchers involved in different areas of development and evaluation of public policies in economics, education, health, poverty analysis, governance etc. Some of the specific objectives of CROP include the following:

  • Participate in public debate by providing scientific information likely to assist political and economic decision makers to put in place adequate policies
  • Promote the efficient use of public resources
  • Strengthen the democratic process in Africa
  • Contribute toward the fight against poverty
  • Improve the quality of public services
  • Influence the public forum agenda through regular opinion poll and the publication of research articles
  • Bring together African  researchers from around the world in order to offer solutions to the various problem facing Africa

To this end, CROP combines empirical research with a multidisciplinary approach that allows for effective planning in the development of any public policy since its conception through implementation and evaluation. CROP brings technical supports to government, non-governmental, and private sector partners organizations for the planning,  the execution, the evaluation of policies and projects.

To achieve the above objective, CROP offers the following services:

  • Collection, analysis and dissemination of economic, social political and demographics data.
  • Opinion polls
  • Impact valuation of public policies
  • Construction and dissemination of performance indicators in the public and private sectors such as hospitals, schools, or ministries.
  • Market study, costumer satisfaction, advertising and marketing impact.
  • Practical training and varied courses in areas such as data analysis and use of statistical tools and software.

CROP is the national partner for Togo of the Afrobarometer research network (www.afrobarometer.org ). In 2012, CROP led the first Afrobarometer survey in Togo and will be conducting periodically the Afrobarometer opinion polls in Togo.
